The 16 Days worldwide in 2005

On Friday, November 25, Coalition 1325, which unites Azerbaijan governmental agencies, international and non-governmental women’s organizations held a meeting dedicated to the start of the 16 Days against violence campaign. It was decided that Coalition will organize several meetings with the state ministries, primarily with the Ministry of Justice and Ministry of Internal Affairs. The purpose of the meetings is to bring to their attention propositions of the women’s groups on the ways to combat violence against women and developing of the governmental interventions strategies.  Coalition established a group of delegates, who will represent Coalition at that meetings, they are Azerbaijan Gender Information Center, Society of Women Oil-Workers, Union of the Independent Teachers.

 

On December, 8, Azerbaijan Gender Information Center will hold round table ‘Violence against Women and its Infuence on Girls Education’. The participants of the round table will be representatives of the Empowering Education Program, school teachers and psycologists. The main topics which will be discused are the influence of domestic violence on girls and their ability to sudy , work with parents, who prevent their daughter from attending schools and early marriages.
