In 2006 the CWSP was invited to participate with its lecturers in a series of seminars organized within the project "Encouraging Women's Participation in Political Life", implemented by the Liberal Politological Institute, with the support of the Westminster Foundation for Democracy (WFD), UK. Ms Tatyana Kmetova, Executive Director of CWSP, presented the "EU's policies toward gender equality. UN's requirements and other international institution, to which Bulgaria has accepted engagements for guaranteeing the gender equality". In the discussions, that were held in Plovdiv, Stara Zagora, Varna and Shoumen, took part MPs, representatives of the Executive and local autjorities, women's and grass roots NGOs. The forums aimed at encouraging more active participation of women in public and political life in Bulgaria. Alongside with the national specifics of the women's participation in public and political processes and the variety of barriers they face, current equal treatment and anti-discrimination legislation and governmental policies were discussed in the context of the forthcoming EU membership of the country, as well as the next steps to be taken for empowerment of women.
