On the 10 April 2006 was held the 8^th Annual Meeting of non-governmental organizations, working on women’s and equal opportunities issues. The participants addressed the National Assembly and the Government of the Republic of Bulgaria with the Appeal to:

• Adopt a Law on Equal Opportunities
• Ratify the Optional Protocol to the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) and promulgate the Convention
• Adopt amendments of the Family Code concerning the rights of children and parents in case of divorce

The participants also insist on the participation of the non-governmental organizations in the consultations on the legal texts before the initiation of the procedure of interdepartmental coordination in compliance with the article 58 of the Rules of Procedure of the Council of Ministers.
