The project aims to improve the capacity of local decision makers to mainstream gender and monitor gender equality in various social sectors. 80 representatives of the National Association of Municipalities in the Republic of Bulgaria, the Confederation of Labour “Podkrepa”, the Bulgarian Association of Regional Development Agencies, as well as of local NGOs .The objective of this training program is to raise the awareness and knowledge on gender mainstreaming and to empower the partners with practical tools for mainstreaming gender into their programs and policies. It will focus both on theoretical issues and practical tools of gender mainstreaming.
The trainings are organized in two modules: theoretical presentation of the principles and practical exercise of their implementation. The training materials and guide are developed by the Romanian partner organization Partnership for Equality Center and are adapted to the Bulgarian situation, legislation and practices.
The first training will be held in Pravets on 18-19 March. The rest will take place in Veliko Turnovo (1-2 April), Stara Zagora (21-22 April) and Varna (19-20) May.
The training is under the project Gender Mainstreaming in Public Policies and Programs and It aims to increase the contribution of civil society to the elimination of gender disparities in Bulgaria and to develop the capacity and knowledge of NGOs, trade unions and local governments about gender mainstreaming in order to apply it successfully in their policies and programs.
