Results of the Elections for the European Parliament, 2007 г.

After the elections for the European Parliament, held on 20 May 2007, were elected 10 men and 8 women for MEPs from Bulgaria.

Party/ Coalition Total Men Women % women
Platform of European Socialists 5 3 2 40%
National Movement Simeon II 1 0 1 100%
GERB - Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria 5 2 3 60%
Movement for Rights and Freedoms  4 2 2 50%
Ataka 3 3 0 0%
Total 18 10 8

The elected 8 women represent 44% of our MEPs, which is a considerably higher per cent in comparison to our representation so far – 28%.

What is the distribution by party? The order of the candidate lists is naturally reflected in the final results as well: the parties with the highest number of women MEPs are those, who had the highest number of women on their lists by the 5th place.
