P.U.L.S. Initiatives
P.U.L.S. Foundation from Pernik participated in the campaign by planning, organizing and implementing a number of media and social events in the region. The majority of activities aimed at popularizing the newly adopted Law on Protection against Discrimination and promoting women’s rights under this Law. Within the framework of the campaign was launched a long-term prevention project in one of the local schools in order to educate the most vulnerable part of society – pupils, about the causes, scope and results from domestic violence. Additionally, a special anti-violence poster was designed and disseminated in schools in the town and the region by the Youth Club “Let’s Be Friends” to the Foundation.
On 6 December was held a one-day seminar for increasing the knowledge and practical abilities of police officers in dealing with domestic violence, especially when the victim is from the Roma community. Two videos for prevention were produced and broadcast by local TV and radio stations throughout the whole company. As a result, the Day of Open Doors organized for the fifth time by P.U.L.S. attracted attention and more than 60 representatives of the police, the Municipality of Pernik, Regional Government, hospitals, schools, etc., visited the office of the Foundation and were shown the preventative and educational movie about domestic violence in Rome communities.
