On the 7-th of December 2006 the draft was discussed in the permanent Parliamentary Commission on Human Rights and Religions. The members of the Commission were informed by Mrs. Stancheva that almost all national parliaments of CE member states adopted similar declarations that engage the legislative power in the fight against the violence against women.
The Declaration of the Bulgarian Parliament put into priority the efforts to combat the violence against women in the legislative and in the control powers of the Parliament.
The Declaration was supported in the plenary by Mrs. Emilia Maslarova, Minister of Labour and Social Policy. She declared that the Ministry which is the responsible institution for building of the administrative capacity to combat domestic violence, fully supports the adoption of the Parliamentary Declaration on the campaign which aims to raise the awareness of the society of the real scale of the domestic violence problems.
