On 8 of December 2006 the National Assembly of Bulgaria unanimously adopted a Declaration on the involvement of the Bulgarian Parliament to the Council of Europe campaign to combat violence against women, including domestic violence (2006 – 2008), appointed by national parliaments, which was officially launched on the 27 of November 2006 in Madrid. The draft declaration was submitted to the Parliament by Mrs. Darinka Stancheva – coordinator for Bulgaria and member of the Parliamentary Group of the National Movement Simeon the Second. The draft was elaborated mutually by representatives of almost all the parliamentary groups – Marusja Lubcheva from the Parliamentary Group of the Coalition for Bulgaria, Nadejda Mihailova from the Parliamentary Group of the United Democratic Forces and Anastasia Mozer – from theParliamentary Group of Bulgarian People's Union.
