On the 7 –th of June 2006 was organized a discussion on the proposals for Social Insurance Code amendments upon initiative of the Parliamentary Group of National Movement Simeon the Second (NMSS) in the National Assembly following the social demand for increase of the amount of the maternity leave compensations. The meeting was opened by Mrs. Anelia Mingova, Chairperson of the Parliamentary Group of NMSS and was attended by members of the Parliament, deputy ministers, representatives of the executive power, organizations and institutions, media and civil society – mothers and NGOs working on women’s problems. The discussion was organized in response of the Bulgarian present and future mothers’ protest against the state social policy concerning compensations for maternity leave and state financial assistance for childcare
