The CWSP – Sofia initiated this joint project, financed by the Socrates/ Grundtvig 2 Learning Partnerships Subprogram and covering the period of 1 August 2005 to 31 July 2006, with two partner organizations from Slovakia and Turkey – the Center of Women’s Studies and Policies Association – Bratislava and KADER Association for Supporting and Training Women Candidates – Ankara. In the project were also involved as learner organizations the Contemporary Woman and Youth Foundation, Ankara and the Bulgarian Association of Regional Development Agencies and Business Centers (BARDA) and as trainer organization – the Top Center of Business Women Association, Bratislava (Top Center Podnikateliek – TCP).
The project aims at exchanging knowledge and good practices about mentoring for women entrepreneurs as an alternative learning form, and promoting mentoring for women entrepreneurs as a way to overcome gender disparities, social exclusion and poverty by empowering women to participate more actively in national economy.
The main focus of the activities falls on the exchange of experience and good practices in mentoring for women entrepreneurs. The partners from Bulgaria and Turkey had a site visit to the successful Top Center in Bratislava, which is an information, counseling and training center for women entrepreneurs, with an extensive experience in mentoring programs. The exchange of experience and good practices is encouraged through a special section on the website of the project coordinator with an e-forum on the topic. This exchange, together with the overviews on the existing practices in training women in entrepreneurship, prepared by the three partners, will help them analyze the possibilities to create mentoring programs for Bulgaria and Turkey, based on the Slovak partners’ experience.
All project outcomes and results are mainly disseminated through the three web pages on the partners’ websites and two roundtables - in Sofia and Ankara.

Center of Women’s Studies and Policies Foundation – Sofia
It aims at consolidating and strengthening the NGOs addressing women’s issues, increasing the public awareness of the problems women in Bulgaria face, and promoting the development and adoption of policies guaranteeing gender equality. It has several areas of strategic interest for its activities: Gender Equality Monitoring Agency, under which are conducted surveys and researches in different areas, including women and economy; Women's Leadership Institute for providing training to women from local governments, trade unions, NGOs, minority and marginalized women in entrepreneurship, gender mainstreaming, equal opportunities, leadership, violence against women issues; Virtual Gender Resource Center on its website; Fundraising for different initiatives; other projects on specific topics, financed by international or national donors implemented by the CWSP in partnership with different organizations. Established in 2003.

Center of Women’s Studies and Policies Association – Bratislava
Its founders are women with experience in training and private business. The young Association works closely with the Top Center (Top Centrum Podnikatellek) – an NGO for women entrepreneurs, which is information, counseling and training center for women entrepreneurs. For the last few years Top Center has successfully been implementing mentoring programs for women entrepreneurs. The Association is registered in 2004 as an NGO in Slovakia.

Association for Supporting and Training Women Candidates (KA-DER) – Ankara
One of the leading branches of KA-DER, established in 1997 in Istanbul. Its founders – women activists mainly from the academia, initiated it with the objective of empowering and encouraging women to develop strategies for effective and equal participation at local and national parliaments; and to be represented at all decision making bodies. Currently, KA-DER has over 17 branches in major cities and more than 3000 members. The Ankara branch of KA-DER is involved in a large variety of activities, aiming at empowering women in all spheres of life.

Association Top Centrum Podnikateliek (TCP) – Bratislava
The TCP (Top Center of Business Women Association) was established on 5 September 2001 and works as an independent organization associating women businesswomen regardless of their political affiliation, religion, nationality and race. It aims at stimulating women entrepreneur's participation in economic and public life in Slovakia as well as on international level and manage the exchange of entrepreneur’s information in Slovakia and abroad. TCP has several regional branches and functions through its clubs, which are places for regular meetings of members for exchange of experience in work and personal life, often attended by invited guests in the areas of economy, culture and policy. Its main activities include the organization of different national and international events, training seminars for its members, publishing a newsletter and participation in different project with main focus on motivation, training and mentoring of women in business.

Bulgarian Association of Regional Development Agencies and Business Centres (BARDA)
This organisation of independent regional development agencies and business centres in Bulgaria was established in 1997 by 7 Regional Development Agencies within the framework of the EU “Vocational Training and Measures for Employment Promotion” Programme and now has 21 members – agencies situated in all regions of Bulgaria. Their activities are directed predominantly towards the development of the regional economies and the SME sector. Among the rich variety of projects which BARDA implements, the organization is also involved as a partner in actions with special emphasis on gender equality issues in the sphere of business and labour market. Such are: the STERE/O project, financed by the EC (2004 –2006), focused on gender equality in professional life and “Gender Mainstreaming in Public Policies and Programmes”, financed by CIDA (2004 –2005) for improving the capacity of decision-makers at local level to mainstream gender in various public sectors – with CWSP as a lead partner.

Contemporary Woman and Youth Foundation, Ankara,
The Foundation is established in 1994 and since then has been operating as a Community Centre in the district of Mamak, which is one of the largest and poorest suburbs in the Ankara with over 600 000 inhabitants and high rates of unemployment. It works mainly with marginalized and disadvantaged women from the migrant families, providing them with training, job counselling and assistance in starting up businesses.
